Your Body Knows What It Needs, Just Listen

Before getting into it, this article is NOT about water. Ha! But it IS about the wisdom of your body which is amazing.

The wisdom of the body. Our bodies are infinitely intelligent, the universe itself- and know exactly what to do to balance and heal naturally. Just like nature, always in balance, in flow. It’s really amazing.

I had a powerful conversation with someone recently and we talked about everything from natural health and nutrition to spirituality. He spoke about his home country where there are so many people who rely solely on natural foods and herbs for healing. And then he said “our bodies know EXACTLY what we need”. I said “YES, exactly right… it’s incredible!”.

How To Listen To Your Body More

One practice I was taught and use myself and have shared with clients is listening and asking your body what is needed in this moment. A great example would be that if you were at work at a desk and just felt low energy, maybe unfocused. It can be easy to just keep sitting, or even get up for a snack or drink. But if you get up and just take a moment, tap your body, and breathe and tune into it- “What is it I need right now?” You might be surprised at the answer!

“Just a short walk, breathing, and some water”. That may be the answer. How SIMPLE is that? No snack or sugar or other drinks- just movement, breathing and water. Then you’re focused, and feel better overall. That is the value of listening to the Wisdom of our bodies.

So when it comes to healing and energy overall, practice listening. Our conditioning can pull us away from that- consistently practicing listening and honoring yourself and your body will benefit you in so many ways. Another example is in my own journey, being very focused on bodybuilding- just bulking, cutting, bulking, cutting. Box squatting 405 pounds at one point! For some, done in a healthy way it can be great- setting goals, seeing and feeling results. However, my body was saying to slow down, stretch and heal the underlying traumas and injuries. Yet my CONDITIONING was saying no just push through it and keep building. After learning and working with natural healing, I have experienced so many benefits and it was a result of finally honoring what my body was saying- so I invite you to do the same.

If your body feels stressed and needs quiet and REST (Really Essential Silent Time), do some technology fasting. If it needs a walk, just move around, walk, stretch. Water? Go for it. Each time you take that action you’re re affirming that you listen and you’ll keep experiencing the benefits. Overall balancing which can include weight loss/strengthening, better sleep, more uplifted or calm, etc.
