You ARE Nature

When we think of going out into nature- it’s not us and then nature. It’s just nature, because we ARE nature. During a retreat I went to, there was a teacher who gave us a talk and she said this- We are quick to judge our thoughts and emotions. But think about it, do we judge those trees? Or those deer? They’re too big, or too small? We don’t. Why? Because it’s nature. But then again, so are we!

Being in nature helps us get into our bodies and our of our heads. That helps us feel more connected- to ourselves and to the world around us. That is HUGE for healing. Nature time can assist a great deal in breaking harmful habits and addictions.

In a book called Go Wild (recommended), there is a section where they talk about how trees and bushes give off chemicals that act as calming agents for us. So if you’ve ever wondered why you feel calm and peaceful when in nature- that’s why. That and the fact that you actually are nature. Made up of the same stuff.

One thing that happens when we give ourselves more time in nature- and less time around things that numb- is that we are tuned into our energy. We become aware of insights and small awakenings that lead to growth. That is a great thing.
