When something is imbalanced in your body, it knows exactly what to do. So listening to gut and intuition and allowing the natural healing process without overanalyzing and judging is the key. Here I will share some of the natural ways I worked through a stomach virus that brought a lot of pain, and immense learning and letting go. As your body processes and let’s go of what shouldn’t be there, on a deeper level, there may be many things you are letting go of and need to be processed.
LISTENING TO YOUR BODY
So first and foremost, Listen to your body. The wisdom of the body is the wisdom of G-d, Nature. Do your best to listen. Quiet time and meditation and no distraction (is the practice all the time not just when the body is going through something). So turn the screens off– remember that the word screen means BLOCK– ONE thing it blocks is your own connection with your body. Take time and listen to what your body needs- that is the best guidance. It may say rest, take a walk, get more sunlight, get into nature, etc. And when the Body says slow down, slow down- if anything is pulling you away from that, let it go and keep doing what’s needed.
NUTRITION
As for Nutrition, the same rules apply. Real food only and specifically adopting the BRAT diet, along with 2 foods that are good for loose stools and stomach virus. BRAT would be Banana, also a great source of potassium. Rice, I had some purple rice which is FILLED with antioxidants. Apple Sauce- make sure it just has apples and water- no additives. And T for Toast- I generally don’t eat bread but I did find some purple wheat bread with Pumpkin Seeds. The 2 additional foods are Low Fat Yogurt and Black Berries. The probiotics in the Yogurt are very good for the gut. Eat slowly and feel your body responding. Aside from that, making sure to get sea salt in spring water to stay hydrated!
HERBAL REMEDY
No matter what the imbalance is, there are herbs and natural foods that will help. I looked for anything that would be calming to the body, as well as natural antibiotic, and anti spasmatic. Here are some of the herbs that helpful for that:
Raw Honey: Honey has so many health properties, one being that it is a natural antibiotic. It also has a soothing effect on the digestive system. It contains electrolytes to help with hydration. I am continuing to learn about the healing and strengthening effects of Honey.
Garlic: Garlic is also a Natural antibiotic and antiviral. It is an immune system booster- and considered part of the GBOMBS diet- which are some of the most beneficial and anti inflammatory foods we can eat.
Ginger: Ginger can relieve nausea and help with digestion. It is a Natural antibiotic and antiviral as well. And remember, all of these foods listed help here but they are overall powerhouses. So they will assist you in many other ways as well.
Fennel: In my tea, I added Fennel which is an antibiotic and anti viral as well. It’s an anti inflammatory and helps with pain and digestion.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a Natural anti biotic as well and an anti inflammatory.
Cumin: Also an antibiotic
Oregano: I had Oregano growing and it was a perfect opportunity to add it to tea. It is a natural Anti Viral.
Peppermint and Lavender: Smelling these, in oil or flower form is very calming. Peppermint helps me feel awake and calm, and Lavender is calming. I had Lavender growing as well.
PRAYER, MEDITATION
When you are having stomach difficulties or anything else, it’s G-d or Nature’s way of saying slow down, pay attention. Analyzing and judging doesn’t help- slow down and listen. There is a lot to be learned. You can deepen your Gratitude practice and spiritual connection. There may be deep revelation. You can gain wisdom. Stay present with yourself.
Practicing walking meditation is helpful always but here especially. Slowly walking while keeping attention on feet touching Earth, breath, or just your hand pointed forward. Keep moving even if it is just slow, walking meditation!
I hope that brings you benefit and it helps you in many ways. Wishing you health and strength!
