Bringing your energy into your body… practicing this can bring a lot of benefit. What we can learn just by observing is that a lot of our energy and attention drawn is upward- due to phones, tv, computers. A lot of information. And on top of that, we have all had some type or types of trauma… this can also cause energy to focus up top- where your system can think of how to avoid having the trauma happen again or maybe why it happened.
Balancing this with body work and nature can be huge for healing and bringing some power and energy back. We can take some time out in nature- watch the sun rise or set, feel the air, observe the trees and life. This time away from tech and in nature can rejuvenate you on a deep level.
The other practice I’ve found helpful is something I’ve learned from a Korean Yoga group. It’s called belly tapping. You may have come across something like it before- it’s a type of dynamic meditation. The aim is to allow your energy and attention to be grounded in your body. The benefits you might enjoy are more calm, balanced energy, and clarity.
To do it, simply stand with your legs and body relaxed. Bare feet on the earth is even better. Make two fists and alternate as you tap your belly, making vibration. You can also allow your head to move as you do it.
You can also do the simple practice of “energy bouncing”- you can do this anywhere, outside or in the breakroom at work. Simply stand, aware of your feet and lower body. Go up on your toes then let your heals hit the ground, creating feeling throughout your body. Again, the aim is a subtle shift in where your attention and energy is- it’s now more anchored and grounded in the lower body. It definitely feels very refreshing.
Try it out and let me know the benefits you get.
Take your time- step by step. Healing and rejuvenation takes time.
