Naturally Working To Lower Blood Pressure

I spoke with someone recently regarding blood pressure. Recognizing that our system works as a whole- every cell communicates with the entire system. Everything works together as one interconnected and intelligent whole. So when we look at something like blood pressure- we can look at it holistically. And see that the symptom- is a message from the body to be listened to- its a natural response to a abnormal conditions. Which means we can learn work on it at the root to improve it naturally. These are some ideas to work with and feel out- they can assist overall, including with blood pressure.

Nutrition:

Choosing natural food as much as possible will help keep blood pressure balanced. Anything with high sugar, especially processed, and processed carbohydrates/junk, excess caffeine etc. These will all negatively impact blood pressure. They cause inflammation, stress responses, and constriction. Eating natural foods keeps everything in check. Especially fruits and vegetables and these specific 2 foods (there are many more, but here are two I shared with someone recently):

Watermelon (especially the white part): Here you get CITRULLINE, which is an amino acid and vasodilator, helping your blood flow easier.

Beets: This food contains nitrates, leading to nitric oxide which is also a vasodilator. Assisting you further. And of course both of these foods contain many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

So if someone ever says beets and watermelon “won’t help”, reject it and just let them know- they are vasodilators, so by nature- yes they will help.

Movement:

Any movement will help of course. If you sit for work or otherwise- set a timer. Every 20 minutes or so, get up, stretch, breathe, do some squats, arm circles, twists. Breaking the sitting pattern keeps your energy moving, blood, CHI, bringing nutrients and oxygen and power to where they need to go. It will also keep you awake, alert, and energized- meaning you won’t feel the need for a sugary snack or coffee!

Every hour or so, get up and take a short walk. Twist as you walk, move your arms around, stretch, especially face, neck, jaw. LET THE CHI FLOW. And on a lunch break- refrain from screens. Do more movement and eat healthy food. Take some time to connect with people and some time to just sit and relax- these all will help to feel calm and assist with blood pressure. It’ll build your energy for the rest of the day.

Meditation/Nature Time

Whether it’s early in your day, during, or later on- taking time in silence for meditation will assist with balancing energy and feeling calm- lowering blood pressure. Calming music, or just resting. You can do walking meditation or other forms of dynamic meditation like body tapping. Or just sitting and breathing.

Walking in nature (remembering phytoncides which are the chemicals trees and bushes give off that connect with our system and bring us calm and lower blood pressure naturally), seeing, feeling, hearing, and smelling nature- all of this assists. And then feeling awe and inspired by it all- that has a healing effect.

Gratitude

Practicing gratitude helps us in so many ways. Taking note and feeling grateful for things whether seemingly small or big has a profound affect on us. One benefit is feeling calm and relaxation. You can develop your own practice- listening to an audio early in the day can help get you tuned to what you’re grateful for. Remember the “Precious Human Birth” story in Buddhism- we learn that the chances of incarnating as a human in all of existence is as rare as a blind turtle popping it’s head up in the ocean which has a single ring it it. That is how rare it is. Just sit with that for a second. Let it land.

This all goes along with your spiritual and religion belief- whatever belief is yours that makes you feel positive, inspired, guided, or awake. Recognizing you are a son or daughter of the Supreme. That a lone can inspire and lift you up.

These are all natural ways we can heal and balance our system. Something like blood pressure can be received as a message from the body- and when we know that’s what it is, we can respond, stay non reactive, listen, learn, and work naturally to improve it.
