Is There A “Best” Diet?

There are so many different diets out there. It can get a little overwhelming just seeing the different types. Counting calories and logging everything can be helpful but also time consuming. People have great success with that but I think there are some more simple ways of looking at food that can lead to health and healing- maybe less bodyfat and more energy.

I’ve been studying a lot on different diets and just trying to see commonalities and benefits that can come from them. What I come back to a lot is looking at how humans ate for hundreds of thousands of years and then came farming and later on processed foods and junk food. So if we look back a ways, we know how our bodies are designed and what they respond to. That can be a helpful guide when deciding what to eat.

So first off, we know, and can all agree that junk and processed foods can be dropped as much as possible. Our bodies don’t know what to do with them and often set off a stress response. Even that first step can bring you huge benefits- more stable blood sugar, less cravings, more sustained energy, less fat.

If losing bodyfat is a goal, look at it this way. If we eat naturally, it’s tough (or maybe impossible) to overeat and we’re getting the essentials we need. In nature, carbohydrates come with fiber which makes us feel full. Proteins and fats also make us full. It’s really the processed carbs, sugars, and drinks- they add calories without nutrients and spike blood sugar. So replace with fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, nuts, seeds- these will deliver nutrients and make you feel full before you can overeat. What I’ve found through reading some dairy can be good. Some say raw (something I’d like to try) or at least grass fed dairy is beneficial, especially yogurt or kefir. The main thing would be to stay away from the hormones and anti biotics of grain fed cow milk.

Healing your body, losing weight, increasing energy- all connected if done naturally. The natural foods make you full while giving you the nutrients needed for healing and feeling more energy is the outcome.

Keep up the great work and keep working at it, one day at a time.

Thanks so much for reading.

Wishing you health and strength.
