Ingredients For Healing And Rejuvenation

This article will basically be reminders about what can be very helpful in healing damage of the brain and nervous system/rejuvenating. Sort of a “brain dump” of the things I’ve learned, used and studied.

So whether you consider yourself very healthy overall, or have had serious brain or nervous system trauma, which is what happened to me- these ideas can be part of your arsenal.

Nutrition: Biggest takeaways- drop the processed foods, sugar, and substances. These are all harmful. We all need healing and replacing these foods with natural foods can be a big part of your foundation. Look at it like a hunter gatherer- if it wasn’t available to them, don’t eat it.

Herbs and superfoods: You don’t have to be an herbalist, but you should know about certain herbs and superfoods that have the power to heal. Ashwaghanda and Rhodiola- if you’ve experienced trauma or burnout, these can help your adrenal system regain balance and become more robust. Turmeric- a great anti inflammatory. Medicinal Mushrooms: Reishi, great for rejuvenation and relaxation. This and many others build your capacity. Lions Mane, great for clarity. Chaga, great for the immune system.

Movement: Just move- set a reminder or build the habit. If you work at a desk, get up and move or stretch- it’s great for the nervous system. Workouts are even better. If you have to bring up your exercise, just reaffirm- it’s great for me and a gift I’m giving myself. Yoga can be great- I do a class that involves stretches, body tapping, bowing. Bringing awareness into your body is a great practice.

Self Compassion: It’s very easy to compare and criticize ourselves. Let yourself know- I love you. Also if you honestly look at what you’ve been through, you’ll probably say “wow, that’s alot”. This goes along with forgiveness.

Learning: We are always learning, you are not a finished product. Little by little you can work things.

Silence/Stillness: Early in the day, during it, or later on- A period of silence and stillness, or prayer, can be huge for healing. It’s easy to get caught up in distraction- but that silence is necessary.

Blessing to be a blessing: A passage in the Tibetan Book Of Living And Dying taught me to have the wish- “bless me into usefulness”- there’s also a quote from the bible about the blessing to be a blessing. Having this aspiration can bring you into a more empowered place.

Resource: Daniel Amen is a doctor who helps people heal their brain. Alot of good information comes from his work. Irene Lyon is a nervous system and trauma healing specialist who teaches a great course called the 21 day nervous system tune up which can help you understand and heal in many ways.

Inspiring people: Being humble and learning from people can be educational which is healing.

Take it one day at a time. Have a great weekend. Wishing you health and strength!
