Books can do a lot for us and the right one at the right time can help us take a step forward or solve a problem. This past year I’ve come across a lot- physical books and through audible- that have helped me understand certain areas better. I’ll share some of the books I’ve referenced or read in the past year and how they can be very helpful.
Sayings of the Desert Fathers and Streams In The Wasteland. Both about the Desert Monks and showing how rejuvenative silence and prayer/meditation can be. When we take time away from technology and noise it can be very grounding and healing. Insights come to us and we feel more connected to everything.
Books by Irish author John O’donohue- Blessing the Space Between Us, Anam Cara, The Inner Landscape. These books can actually help with a few things- appreciating your own unique understanding and be compassionate with yourself around wounds. It also can help you with choosing certain words that are more powerful or higher vibration when you speak to yourself.
Buddhist Books: Pema Chodron books can help you discern when you are open in situations and when you shut down. They can help with the idea of “staying with yourself”, staying present and feeling what’s there. Topics that come up a lot in Buddhism.
Thich Nhat Hanh Books: Peace is Every Step, How to Relax, Happiness, etc. These books transmit the calmness of Buddhism and can help you feel more centered.
The Mood Cure and Go Wild: These are two books I read a long time ago and reference from time to time. Overall the Mood Cure can just make us more and more aware that foods we eat affect how we feel, so choose the best ones you can. Also, certain supplements and herbs that can be strenghthening and beneficial. Go Wild will help open your eyes to notice that modern things affect our health- like sitting too long, processed foods, lack of sunshine or nature. Great ideas that you can follow to rejuvenate, heal, and feel better energy.
