There are a lot of really interesting ideas and information revolving around gut health. We now know that many ailments can be cured by healing the gut. Whether its from toxins, processed foods, or stress, the gut can be worked on in different ways daily, and you might notice some benefits from it.
Intestines Exercises: I learned this from a group I do yoga classes with- Body and Brain. The intestines exercises are very simple and can have a big impact on overall health. I try to do these from time to time and we do them in class. It’s very simple- you can put your hands on your abdomen and pull your stomach in as you push in. Then let go and push out. You’re Just stimulating that area- which is your power area as well. Try it out- do 50-100 reps of this. Like anything else, the more you practice, the better you get, and the more benefit you feel.
Probiotics: Another way to build and/or heal the gut is with Probiotics (and Prebiotics, which feed the Probiotics). You can take a supplement (shooting for 10 billion colonies), or eat some Probiotic foods. These are foods like Kimchi, Yogurt, Sauerkraut. And then you can eat some Banana or really any fruit or vegetable to feed the gut. What I’ve learned is that many beneficial neurotransmitters are produced in the gut and can boost your mood. If you eat a lot of processed foods and sugar, try cutting down on those slowly, and replacing with Probiotics and Prebiotics. This can bring a lot of benefit.
