Gratitude Practice

Gratitude can play a big role in healing our bodies. If you practice gratitude or do a meditation for a number of days in a row, you might feel energy increase or just better overall in your body. It can have a profound effect in boosting the immune system as well.

In Buddhism you might come across interdependence- the connectedness of everything and everyone. For instance, when you have something to eat- you can express gratitude for the meal itself. But if you look deeper you can feel and express gratitude for everything and everyone that made it possible. For instance the sun, the farmer who grew the food, the water supply and irrigation system, the transporters, the packagers, and store employees. All of it worked together for you to be nourished.

When we practice a lot, we might also notice feelings of gratitude more often throughout the day. For seemingly small things- things we might have overlooked previously. This can be a great thing as it can shift our attention positively. It can also give us extra energy and motivation for what we’re doing.

See if you can shift the focus a few times today- just think of or look at something you’re very grateful for and feel it. This is what I will be practicing.

One step at a time. Wishing you health and strength!
