Book Review “The Sayings Of The Desert Fathers”

Book Review, “The Sayings Of The Desert Fathers”
By Saint Palladius

My work and studies of Healing and Rejuvenation, specifically Buddhism/Christianity continues to lead me to appreciating the power of silence/meditation/prayer. These practices are very helpful for healing and I’ve experienced that they are powerful, specifically for Soul Retrieval.

The Desert Fathers were the early monastics who practiced disciplines and purifying the heart to be with God/Spirit. Hearing about them and their sayings in this book was very humbling. It was a great reminder that we all have tremendous potential and we can make corrections and improvements as we work at it.

There is so much distraction and noise. A lot of times people equate relaxation time with things like TV. However, taking time alone- a walk, meditation/contemplation, reading, writing are very rejuvenating and can help “untangle”. These not so modern practices are very grounded and conducive of wisdom and healing. This is what the Desert Fathers did.

The Desert Fathers had goals that were very humble. Improvement and connection with the divine. That was very inspiring and the book also helped me slow down and take a look at different areas with an attitude of “come on, let’s do this”. I often say it’s helpful to develop the inner coach aspect which we all have, as opposed to the critical aspect.

You are great. Keep working, learning and healing.

Wishing you health and strength!
