A simple reminder to give yourself is this: “I’m proud of you.” Take a second and say that to yourself. Just feel it, let it land. And recognize how it can lift you- and if you say it to someone else, you know how that can help them.
No one truly knows how hard you’ve worked and what you’ve overcome but you- you and G-d. Even if you talk with someone about it- those are just words, concepts. You know how much effort and what kind of obstacles you had to work through.
And something can happen at times. We are looking for validation- for someone outside of us to say “great work, I RECOGNIZE your hard work. Great job and I’m proud.” That little mechanism of looking for validation or someone to take notice can have you searching outside of yourself. What matters is that you know you’re putting in effort, one step at a time, whether it feels easy or not.
So whether it’s getting healthier physically, studying and reading countless books, piecing together difficult ideas to understand and share, healing in ways that almost don’t make sense, or dropping something that was distracting you. Say it to yourself- “Great work. I’m proud of you.”
Looking for that from the outside can get us stuck in “I’m not good enough”, maybe if I try this, I’ll hear those words. You may hear them along the way and that’s great, and also maybe not. But pull your energy back and recognize your goals that come from a deep place are yours, placed there by something bigger. So you already are good enough and also a work in progress. We all are.
I hope you find that helpful. Keep working on yourself knowing you’re already great.
Wishing you health and strength
Ryan
