A Gem From “Anam Cara”, Celtic Wisdom

Anam Cara by John O’donohue

In this short article I will highlight a portion of “Anam Cara” to show a way of healing from trauma, stress, or burnout.

There are a lot of soul nourishing ideas in the book, many about healing. I highly recommend it. Although I put bookmarks at a lot of points, there is one spot today that captured my attention.

John O’Donohue talks about tending to our wounds in a compassionate, tender way, as opposed to with an analyzing or critical view. It can be easy to become aware of trauma and wounds and want to fix them or fix ourselves. That way can create aggression and we can get tangled up. Pulling back and allowing compassion and tenderness can bring back a lot of our power. The book also includes a lot of reminders to be mindful and find nature’s rhythm within.

Practicing gratitude today- thank you for reading. Believe in yourself and wishing you strength and health!

“May you recognize in your life, the presence power and light of your soul. May you realize you were never alone.”- John O’Donohue, Anam Cara
